1-Day Mt. Karkom Tour
Today will not be a regular sightseeing day. Today we start an expedition to Mt. Karkom, the real Mt. Sinai, where the Ten Commandments were given, according to some recent researches. This mountain is located in a very desolate desert region, only accessible by jeeps. Once our jeeps arrive at the mountain, we take a hike along the different altars and ancient, mysterious rock-inscriptions, which are characteristic to this mountain. We will have a picnic-lunch (included) in the desert.
Itinerary for a 1-Day-Tour around Eilat
Leave Eilat, and drive northwards bound along the Arava Valley, visiting a few interesting sites along the road, according to your interest. We leave the paved road for a 1-Day desert Safari, starting with "The Wadi of the Statues", called so because of the colorful sandstone formations that reminds us of an artist's masterpiece… The "Wadi of the Statues" leads us to the oasis of Beer Ora – once a military base, and now a "ghost-town" . A steep and adventurous dirt-road leads us to the wide Canyon of Nachal (Wadi) Raham, and then to the "Finger of God" and the deep Gorge of Nachal Etek. Here we climb with cables and ladders down to the Etek-waterholes. After a rainy winter they might even be filled with water. Returning to our Jeep, we continue on "The Scouts Ascent" (=Maale Sayyarim) and through a wild desert landscape to the Uvda Valley, with its ancient open-air Temples and other antiquities. After a wide view of the Arava Plain from Shacharut-Cliff, we descend the last steep Jeep-Road down to the Arava and Eilat.
